Brooklyn's Twin Danger make a distinctive mix of smoky, atmospheric jazz and pop. Formed in 2013, the duo consists of longtime Sade guitarist/saxophonist Stuart Matthewman and vocalist/guitarist Vanessa Bley. The daughter of visual artist Carol Goss and jazz pianist Paul Bley, Vanessa grew up studying classical piano in upstate New York. Self-taught on guitar and bass, Bley's interests gradually shifted from classical and toward jazz improvisation and singing. Later, she began performing her songs at various local venues. It was during this period that she collaborated with Estonian pop artist Kerli, who in turn introduced Bley to Matthewman. The two began performing and writing together. In 2015, Twin Danger released their self-titled debut album on Universal. ~ Matt Collar
