Singer Tom Gabel dropped out of high school to form the punk band Against Me!, first as an indie-folk solo act, then as a full-fledged band. After Against Me!’s fourth album, the 2007 release NEW WAVE, proved a breakthrough hit, Gabel went into the studio to record a solo EP, HEART BURNS, released in 2008. Like the music of Against Me!, Gabel’s solo effort melds a passionate, politically motivated troubadour sensibility with a fiery, old school punk sound, resulting in an accessible hybrid that packs a punch.
