About The Dils

A fixture of both the San Francisco and Los Angeles punk scenes of the late '70s, The Dils brought a far left political bent and a decidedly pop take on harmony to the nascent genre. Anchored by the Kinman brothers, Chip and Tony (who also briefly played in the Avengers), the Dils made a name for themselves with a stream of live shows and a series of classic singles like 1977’s “Class War/Mr. Big.” Though the Dils only lasted until 1980, the Kinman brothers went on to help nurture the upstart “cowpunk” genre with their band Rank and File.
