One of Sweden's most prolific and talented indie pop musicians from his time in Laurel Music and Irene alone, Tobias Isaksson also recorded as Azure Blue. Combining smooth synth pop with the sophistication of Bryan Ferry's solo work and the lyrical detail of Robert Forster and Grant McLennan, Azure Blue's debut, Rule of Thirds (2011), won a Swedish Independent Grammy Award for Best Album. Beyond the Dreams There's Infinite Doubt (2013) was nominated for a Gaffa Award for Best Swedish Album. Isaksson did some remixes, as well as additional projects Nite Flights and Personal Trainers, then got back to Azure Blue for the Every Ending Story EP and Beneath the Hill I Smell the Sea (both 2015). ~ Tim Sendra
