About Anggun
Not only the first Indonesian artist to make a splash globally, Jakarta-born and Paris-based Anggun Cipta Sasmi (a.k.a. Anggun) has been an enduring, multilingual force of international pop ever since she burst onto the scene with her 1997 classic “Snow on the Sahara”. Recording and performing in English, French and her native Indonesian, Anggun is a multi-faceted artist—her hits can front Hollywood blockbusters (Transporter 2 in 2005), as easily as they can the Eurovision Song Contest—but the singer-songwriter also uses her profile seriously, having served as a UN global ambassador.
