Long the figurehead of Singaporean rock, Ramli Sarip has been around and acting on his love for music for so long, he's earned a fitting nickname: “Papa Rock”. First gaining fame as the frontman and lead vocalist for hard rock act Sweet Charity, his style has been and continues to be soulful, honest and raw. That style has also caused him some trouble with censors—in 1993, his signature long hair earned him a seven-year airplay ban in Malaysia. But nothing could stop Ramli Sarip, who is still performing after nearly half a century.
