KYLE's modern-day West Coast rap embodies the breezy sonic elements of his L.A. home: Sparse, airy production gives way to swelling choruses, backed by dynamic, rapid-fire drums. He's at his best when blending his natural penchant for romantic lyrics with an R&B vibe, like on the Alessia Cara-aided “Babies” or on “Playinwitme”, which finds him trading singsong verses with Kehlani. On “Doubt It”, he finds his flow atop a howling Usher sample. At its core, though, every KYLE song is a celebration of life in all the forms he's seen it; “Nothing 2 Lose” is equal parts boastful, comical and freeing.
