Envisioned as the ultimate supergroup, E-Girls brought together pop outfits Dream, Flower, and Happiness to form a 19-member unit. Their pop songs are uptempo affairs loaded with dizzying synths and touches of dance, all building toward sticky choruses that work wonders on a packed dance floor. Despite sounding slick and modern, E-Girls also take cues from '80s pop hits, working in elements of older synth-pop in a nod to such outfits as Yellow Magic Orchestra and Bananarama. One of the biggest acts in Japan, they're especially popular with young women.
