The face and voice of Punjabi regional cinema since 2003, singer/composer/actor Diljit Dosanjh was born into a Sikh family whose musical heritage is often reflected in the two-sided mrdanga or pakhawaj drums that drive his music. He's a Punjabi everyman with a voice that can be devotionally strident (check out the heavy "Gobind De Lal”), but also possesses pop star fervour on club tracks like "Happy Birthday", a rollicking blend of Auto-Tuned vocals and sinuous keyboards.
