Big Punisher Essentials

The Bronx-born Big Pun's recording career may have been a short one, but his legacy remains as a true heavyweight New York City spitter. After showing and proving with guest verses on albums by The Beatnuts and Fat Joe during the mid-'90s, Pun signed to Loud and released his Capital Punishment debut in 1998. The album went platinum, with the rapper's bewitching flow wowing fans and critics alike. Yeeeah Baby followed in 2000—although by then the rapper, who at the time weighed almost 700 lbs, had passed away from a heart attack and respiratory failure.
