Growing up as the son of a jazz musician greatly impacted Indonesian fusion artist Barry Likumahuwa, and these early, vibrant influences are hard to miss in his work. Combining elements of funk and rock, his tunes are a more modern take on the classics he listened to as a kid. With grooves aplenty, Likumahuwa also uses songwriting to tackle social issues that young Indonesians face today—danceable guitar riffs and dirty basslines lay the foundation for these sonic expressions of unity and identity.
