About Tommy Dorsey
Tommy Dorsey's trombone playing was admired across the board; his supremely polished tone could render a sentimental melody as evocative as any singer. His pop-oriented big band was among the best known of the '30s and '40s. While most popular for their ballads, they created their share of classic big-band swing arrangements as well. Dorsey also nurtured the talent of many fine singers--including a young Frank Sinatra.
