In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember writing my first song in Middle School and playing it for a cute girl who really liked it. That was enough encouragement to continue writing songs, and in High School, I was a songwriter and youngest member of a 'paid' gigging band. Basil Poledouris, Conan the Barbarian (Conan le Barbare) [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] Pink Floyd, The Dark Side of the Moon Remastered Steely Dan, Aja Remastered Timeless. Perfection. Period. I listen to such a wide variety of music that these lists feel kind-of-like a choke-hold. BUT these are the standards that gave birth to many other standards, and the landscape of music has improved because of them. The direction for The Lamplighter, was to invoke a feeling of honor to someone who had gone before us, and lit a better way.
