Medina

About Medina

Swedish hip-hop duo Medina -- Sam-E (Sami Daniel Rekick) and Alibi (Ali Jammali) -- formed in 2003 after meeting while promoting a genre called "Haffle Music" -- a blend of hip-hop and Middle Eastern influences. The duo, who originally hail from Tunisia, released their first single "Magdansös" to wide acclaim in 2004, the same year as their debut mixtape/album Rumble in Fiskayyet. Their sophomore album, Fullblod, followed in 2005 and featured the single "Fortsätt Gå," which peaked at number 58 on the Swedish singles chart. Two years later they returned with their third album, 7 Dar. After a flurry of mixtapes released for free download, the duo returned with 2012's Hayat, which also featured the Top 20 single "Där Palmerna Bor." In 2013 Medina released their fifth album, Sista Minuten, which peaked at number 15 on the Swedish album charts -- becoming their first album to do so, while the single "Miss Decibel" hit the number two spot, earning gold status. ~ Rich Wilson
