Bandung-based Kahitna have spent decades tugging at the heartstrings of their listeners. Playfully mingling elements of jazz and Latin music in the 1990s, Kahitna had pivoted to piano-based balladry by the new millennium, most notably with 2003’s Cinta Sudah Lewat, garnering the nine-piece hits such as “Tak Mampu Mendua” and “Cinta Sendiri”. Whether it’s via indelible tales of romance and heartbreak, or with swooning melodies largely composed by pianist/chief songwriter Yovie Widianto, Kahitna’s music has without a doubt soundtracked the love stories of millions across Indonesia.
