About Charles Howl

With one foot in the jangling, psychedelic world of the '60s and one in the jangling, psychedelic world of '90s dream pop, London's Charles Howl add surf, post-punk, indie pop, and '70s German rock influences to round their sound out. The band debuted with "Surf Trem"/"Thinking of Home" for Lo Recordings in 2013. A self-titled EP followed later that year on PNKSLM. The duo chose the remote (for them) location of Leeds to record their first album. They worked to hone and refine their sound, adding some focus to the songwriting and production. After hooking up with Ample Play Records, well-known fanciers of fine neo-psych sounds, they recorded an album, with the help of Chris Hicks of Talons on bass. Sir Vices was released in 2015. ~ Tim Sendra
