Caridad Cuervo

About Caridad Cuervo

With the death of Caridad Cuervo, in December 1998, Cuba's lost one of its best-loved vocalists. A prodigy of influential Cuban songstress Celia Cruz, Cuervo had attracted international attention as a featured vocalist at the Tropicana Club in Havana during the 1950s and early-60s. Cuervo was extremely active until the end of her life. She had just completed work as a guest on the Septeto Nacional album, Mas Cuba Libres when she was felled by a brain seizure. ~ Craig Harris
