About Naresh Iyer

Naresh Iyer has made his mark on the likes of A. R. Rahman as well movie audiences across India. • Born and raised in Mumbai but with roots in Kerala, Iyer balances work in Bollywood, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films. • Iyer sidelined his plans to become a chartered accountant after appearing on the TV competition Super Singer in 2005. • He was recognised by Rahman, who was a judge on the show. The song netted Iyer the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 2006. • Iyer’s breathy, evocative voice is also featured on other Rang De Basanti songs like “Tu Bin Bataye” and “Masti Ki Paathshala”. • On “Yethi Yethi” and “Mundhinam” from 2008 Tamil film Vaaranam Aayiram, Iyer worked with seasoned composer Harris Jayaraj. • Iyer has since recorded with Vishal-Shekhar, D.
