Pere Ubu: Deep Cuts

Pere Ubu frontman Dave Thomas cut his teeth in the pioneering shout-along garage-stomp group Rocket from the Tombs ("Never Gonna Kill Myself Again", "Sonic Reducer"). But when he formed Pere Ubu from its ashes, he focused on odd angles and warped melodies ("Caligari's Mirror"), unexpected instrumental excursions (dig the xylophone on "West Side Story") and barely restrained yet highly danceable animosity ("Free White").
