About B*Witched

Ireland’s chief entry in the late-’90s teen-pop rush was the foursome B*Witched, who added homeland-inspired touches to their bright, sunny take on high-energy dance pop. Formed in 1997, the group consisted of twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch (whose older brother Shane was a member of teen-pop sensations Boyzone), Lindsay Armaou and Sinéad O'Carroll. Their first single, 1998’s bubbly “C’est La Vie”, became a worldwide success, and follow-up singles like the laidback “Rollercoaster” and the sumptuous ballad “To You I Belong” (also included on the band’s self-titled 1998 debut) kept B*Witched at the top of the pops in Europe through the end of the century. They released a second album, Awake and Breathe, in 1999, and after label troubles split in 2002. B*Witched reunited in the early 2010s, and in 2014 they released Champagne or Guinness, a six-track EP that showed off how their harmonies had stayed intact even as the group’s members had matured.
