Straight from Basque country, punk rock outfit Cicatriz delivered tight, pummelling anthems of social alienation and fury that spoke directly to the socio-political complexity of their region. The band's reign was short and intense, but at their peak in the mid-'80s, Cicatriz were one of the rawest and most threatening acts in Spain. The band's original members met in a rehab centre in 1983, and three years later dropped Inadaptados (Misfits), a major milestone in Spanish punk. Adversity was a constant for Cicatriz—and those struggles are apparent in their electrifying music.
