This Southern California quintet paint their bright indie rock with bursts of synth, funk and soaring pop, and they always have a potent, poignant message. On their 2010 self-titled debut, heart-pumping indie hits "My Body" and "Cough Syrup" are powered by rumbling, propulsive rhythms and ecstatic choruses.
