White Reaper don’t know if they love the ’70s or ’80s more, and fans of vintage-sounding rock ’n’ roll are all the better for it. Over the course of two independently released records, as well as a smattering of absurdly infectious singles, the Kentuckians built a reputation for sugar-coated anthems that smash together the pounding glam riffs and sinewy guitar runs heard on ’70s radio with the caffeinated beats and New Wave keyboards that dominated MTV the following decade. With Elektra Records snapping them up, White Reaper went to work on 2019's You Deserve Love, a power-pop gem that shines like Rick Nielsen’s satin Cheap Trick jacket.
