Unearth Essentials

Unearth emerged from Boston's fertile heavy music scene in the late '90s, and quickly clawed their way to the top of the metalcore heap thanks to Trevor Phipps' brawny howls and a fire-breathing twin-guitar attack. Still, the band maintain diverse influences—'80s metal ("Sanctity of Brothers"), thrashing hardcore ("My Will Be Done") and melodic rock ("Shadows In the Light")—and relentless sonic urgency. In fact, Unearth's hulking riffs and pulverising blast beats have only grown more intense over the years; crank up the powder keg "Incinerate", which features charred grooves, Phipps' guttural howls and metal-god fret-work.
