Uncle Tupelo: Influences

Uncle Tupelo: Influences

Uncle Tupelo's punk-infused Americana had as much to do with old-time country classics like Hank Williams' haunted “Lost Highway” as it does with Minutemen's ramshackle rock ‘n' roller “Corona”. They took cues from “Bastards of Young”, channelling The Replacements' DIY punk energy. In softer moments, they even borrow from the shimmering, dreamy pop melodies of Big Star's “Way Out West”.
