Toby Keith's introduction to the world was pretty darn auspicious; his 1993 debut single was a No. 1 song and became one of the most-played country tunes of the '90s. In an era when most of the biggest country stars depended on a stable of songwriters, Keith turned out his own tunes, writing everything from good-time roadhouse rockers to tender ballads.
