Apple Music
The Whitlams developed their sound playing acoustically at a Sydney pub on Saturday afternoons, an environment that helped foster Tim Freedman's piano-based songwriting. The song "No Aphrodisiac” ensured 1998's Eternal Nightcap was a runaway success (it won ARIAs for Best Independent Album, Song of the Year and Best Group) and established The Whitlams as among the most visionary alternative rock acts of the late '90s. From there, they released four successful albums, including 2002's Torch the Moon which reached No. 1 on the ARIA album charts. Their catalogue is peppered with richly orchestrated radio hits, including "Blow Up the Pokies” and "Love This City”.
