The Nashville Sound

After honky tonk's heyday in the '40s and '50s, country was taken over by what became known as The Nashville Sound. In place of the raw, rural feel of honky tonk, The Nashville Sound incorporated urbane elements like string sections and backing vocal choirs into the production process. Along the way, an astounding amount of country classics were born.
