The Knife: Influences

The Knife are one-of-a-kind. Few acts have more successfully blurred the line between the accessible and the avant-garde than the Swedish brother-sister duo. Their albums have drawn inspiration from sources far and wide: Meredith Monk's liturgical minimalism; Oval's nervous glitches; Derrick May's luminous Detroit techno. But the key elements of their iconoclastic approach have come from pop's great mavericks, like Kate Bush, Björk and Missy Elliott.
