Robert Forster and Grant McLennan started playing together as teenagers in Brisbane, brought together by a shared obsession with Bob Dylan and the Velvet Underground. With drummer Lindy Morrison, they released their first official album—1981's Send Me a Lullaby—however it was 1983's Before Hollywood that fully realised the band's promise with the breakthrough single “Cattle and Cane”.
