The Go-Betweens Essentials

Robert Forster and Grant McLennan started playing together as teenagers in Brisbane, brought together by a shared obsession with Bob Dylan and the Velvet Underground. With drummer Lindy Morrison, they released their first official album—1981's Send Me a Lullaby—however it was 1983's Before Hollywood that fully realised the band's promise with the breakthrough single “Cattle and Cane”. The Go-Betweens' music brims with heartfelt singing, intricate songwriting, and surprising melodies. Throughout the '80s they became a cult sensation, even though mainstream success eluded them. In the decades since, their reputation has continued to grow, winning the adoration of critics from around the world, especially in their adopted UK home.
