Stereolab: Influences

Stereolab: Influences

Stereolab made an art of combining disparate sounds. In the ‘90s, they took the noisy, minimal grooves of krautrock bands like Neu! and Can and added dashes of classic pop from around the world, from the ballads of Burt Bacharach to the tropicália of Caetano Veloso. They were also among the first to cite ‘60s lounge music and exotica pioneers like Esquivel and Martin Denny as key inspirations.
