Silkworm Essentials
Apple Music
Formed in 1987, Silkworm made fans of Sonic Youth and Pavement, worked with famed producer Steve Albini and recorded for alternative greats like Matador and Touch and Go Records. But while critics and fans adored the band, widespread success eluded them. Over nine albums between 1992 and 2004, they created a sound inspired by post-punks like Mission of Burma and filtered it through classic rock, yet they had a surprisingly sweet and sardonic side. The band ended when drummer Michael Dahlquist was killed in a '05 car crash. A band documentary, Couldn't You Wait?, saw light in '13.
