Sightings Essentials

New York noise rock trio Sightings debuted in the early '00s, combining the harsher-than-harsh feedback of earlier noise pioneers like Merzbow with the attack of hardcore punk. Sightings' music grew more accessible as the years went on; their 2007 album Through the Panama featured production work by Andrew W.K. and a cover of art-rock icon Scott Walker's "The Electrician". But even when writing songs, the band continued to push both rock and noise to their most abrasive and abstract extremes.
