After the break-up of his boy band Seotaiji and Boys in 1996, the lead singer's first solo efforts tapped into his deep-seated teenhood love of heavy metal. But the visionary songwriter has always used genre as more of a suggestion than a destination. He soon moved into experimenting with alt-rock and synth-pop, creating eclectic, atmospheric songs true to his personal vision.
