Memphis soul men Booker T. & The MG's specialised in recording instrumental soul and funk tracks during the '60s. The band's infectious grooves were later earmarked as prime sample sources by hip-hop artists like Diamond D, Boogie Down Productions, Brand Nubian and Ol' Dirty Bastard, plus the big beat outfit Lo Fidelity Allstars.
