When Rosanne Cash emerged as a major force in the ‘80s, she was a new traditionalist championing old-school country values on one hand and a modernist that combined country with rock, pop and R&B on the other. With her for every step of that decade's journey was her then-husband Rodney Crowell who produced all her ‘80s albums and deserves at least partial credit for her hefty haul of hits.
