Few can do nostalgia like this Australian singer/songwriter. His first hit, 1975's “Girls on the Avenue”, positively sparkles, propelled by shimmering guitars and evocative street poetry. His masterpiece arrived two years later with Goodbye Tiger. The melancholy, evocative songs about a not-too-distant past drew comparisons with Van Morrison and Bob Dylan, while being distinctively Australian. Throughout the '80s, his sound toughened up in collaboration with members of INXS on anthemic rock such as “I Am an Island” and “The Best Years of Our Lives”.
