Coming out of Sweden in the mid-'90s, Refused married anti-capitalist, screaming hardcore punk with an electronic edge. They found a devoted, ever-growing audience with 1998's landmark The Shape of Punk to Come, but only after their demise. Flaming out from the perils of the road and running on empty creatively, Refused broke up shortly after the album's release. Their story would have ended if not for their enduring influence, their LP's title proving unexpectedly prescient. A long-awaited reunion came to fruition at Coachella 2012, and the revived band continues to record.
