Recloose Essentials

Raised on the techno-saturated streets of Detroit, producer Matthew Chicoine is best known to fans of soulful-but-futuristic dance music as Recloose. Mentored by techno legend Carl Craig, the prolific Chicoine stepped onto the club scene in the late '90s and his early tracks were funky cut-and-paste hybrids built from melodic techno, slick R&B, bumping deep house, vintage electro and much more. Departing for New Zealand in 2001, Chicoine launched a band that mixed live musicianship with his formidable programming skills, blurring the lines between digital-era club music and old-school soul.
