When the makers of the first LPs launched their own record label, RCA Victor, their initial focus was jazz, blues and classical. But soon, country became an important element of the company's sound, as artists like Eddy Arnold, Texas JIm Robertson and Roy Rogers joined the roster during the '40s. By the next decade, they were joined by bluegrass artists like Bill Monroe.
