While a lot of attention is (appropriately) paid to Peter Frampton's riffage, his intricate guitar work is impressive in all its forms. Songs like “Hummingbird in a Box”, with its sparse and melodic acoustic arrangement, is moody and deceptively complex, while the instrumental “My Cup of Tea” creates an airy dreaminess with its sparkling leads. His lengthy, jazzy solo on Humble Pie's “Stone Cold Fever” reveals how brightly he shone at an early age.
