Discovered at an early age by DJ god Tiësto, Oliver Heldens quickly added a dose of sass to the Dutch house scene of the ‘10s, wrapping surprising trance breakdowns, breakbeats and unusual samples into his peak-time hits. Killer bees "Stinger" and "Striker" mix warped dubstep bass with beautiful build-ups, while his version of Lady Bee and Rochelle's R&B cover "Return of the Mack" drops in piano arpeggios for dramatic effect. Heldens' remix of Martin Garrix's EDM anthem "Animals" is anything but obvious—he omits the signature synth hook entirely in favour of an old-school rave blast that's pure magic.
