Wry, inventive and fiercely self-sufficient, Minuit represented their Kiwi homeland with quirky electro-pop that packs a serious punch. At first, the group aimed to sound like The Prodigy, but their tumbling breakbeats and colourful keyboards took on a life all their own as Paul Dodge and Ryan Beehre built their beats around Ruth Carr's playful voice and vivid storytelling. After 15 years and five albums, they called it quits in 2014, but not without leaving an unofficial anthem in the form of a song whose refrain—"We are a New Zealand"—they embodied with verve.
