A hard-hitting force in Australian country-rock, Drew McAlister and Troy Kemp first joined forces on 2010’s All Kinds of Tough, belting out empowering anthems about blue-collar life. “My roots run deep down in the ground,” they boast on 2012’s “Country Proud”, a resounding rock stomp that name-drops classic country balladeer Slim Dusty. Such references aren’t unusual for an act that prides itself on down-to-earth salutes to cold beer and hard farming while pushing an unmistakably modern sound. The pair parted ways in 2015 after three albums to pursue solo work, but renewed touring in 2021 has set the stage for further collaboration.
