A handful of Americans have achieved success in the huge Latin Christian music market, though none more so than Marcos Witt. Since the ’80s, the singer, pianist and pastor has sold tens of millions of records and amassed a shelf full of Latin GRAMMYⓇ Awards. What has helped endear Witt to Latin America is his immersion in the culture. He grew up in Mexico, where his family undertook mission work, and not only does he sing stately praise & worship ballads like “Tu Fidelidad” in Spanish, but he leans heavily on Latin rock, jazz and funk for his contemporary Christian music offerings.
