Christchurch's Malcolm McNeill's unique vocal interpretations of classic songs by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, et al, have brought him worldwide recognition in traditional music circles. In a professional career dating back to the 1960s, he has performed across the globe and he scored international chart success in 1992 through a duets album, Heart to Heart, with local opera legend Kiri Te Kanawa.
