Lowell George was a supremely gifted songwriter who brought warmth, humour, sadness and pathos to his quirky, skewed, and sometimes woozy takes on classic rock 'n' roll and roots music. Leading the best incarnation of Little Feat, which ran from 1969-79, George's songs are unmistakable, often like little American travelogues filled with truck-stop tragedies, loner sadnesses and cheap wine.
