Leo Dan is considered one of the most influential singer-songwriters in Latin America. He first emerged at the forefront of the youthful, rock ’n’ roll-influenced Nueva Ola movement in the 1960s. Over the decades since his first hit “Celia” in 1963, the Argentine artist has produced more than 70 albums showcasing his mellow voice and explorative songwriting influenced by bolero, doo-wop and mariachi music. Later songs reflect a focus on mellower, folkier sounds, such as on “Te He Prometido”—notable for featuring in the soundtrack of Alfonso Cuarón’s 2018 film Roma.
