Lee Konitz: On the Session

Before he started leading sessions of his own, alto saxophonist Lee Konitz was well known as a sideman for Miles Davis, Claude Thornhill, Gerry Mulligan, Stan Kenton and more. During his valuable time with pianist Lennie Tristano alongside trumpeter Warne Marsh, Konitz assimilated Tristano's unique harmonic and rhythmic concepts, working them into his own later improvisatory recordings.
