Koe Wetzel grew up absorbing country music and alternative rock in equal amounts. When a mountainous mass of grungy guitars comes crashing through on tracks like “Good Die Young” and “Ragweed”, it’s easy to isolate the latter influence. And when he wraps his Texas twang around the waltz-time ballad “Love” or the pub party starter “Fuss & Fight”, you can start to draw a line back to his childhood spent at his country-singing mum’s gigs. Both sides can lay equal claim to Wetzel’s sound.
